Infant Diagnostics - V: Auditory Neuropathy in Infant Diagnostic Audiology, Part 1

Auditory neuropathy is a clinically important type of hearing impairment in which cochlear outer hair cell function is preserved and measurable, but acoustic information is not relayed accurately through the inner hair cells, auditory nerve or brainstem. This module provides an overview of what AN is, how it presents clinically, and some of the known mechanisms which cause it. Diagnosis of AN is critical in infants who have been diagnosed with permanent hearing losses.
